Please join the Marijuana Policy Project for a reception on August 11 from 7–9 p.m. in downtown Chicago. We’ll be meeting to connect with our supporters in Illinois and to discuss the upcoming legislative push to legalize marijuana in the state. MPP’s own Rob Kampia and Karen O’Keefe will be in town to join us, as will Sen. Heather Steans.
In August 2013, Gov. Patrick Quinn signed The Compassionate Use of Medical Cannabis Pilot Program Act into law, making Illinois the 20th medical marijuana state. MPP led the nearly 10-year advocacy effort for the legislation and spent nearly $1,000,000 in the process. Plus, we helped push a decriminalization bill that’s on the brink of becoming law. We’re poised for even more progress in the years to come.
