Event Navigation

Please join us in Denver, Colorado to listen and engage with the five principals who ran the Amendment 64 campaign.

MPP’s founder and executive director, Rob Kampia, will join Betty Aldworth, Steve Fox, Mason Tvert, and Brian Vicente in conversation during this exclusive fireside chat, where they’ll recount stories that have never been told in public. With the benefit of five years’ hindsight, these five pioneers will assess what they assumed to be true, what turned out not to be true, or what wasn’t known at all in 2011 and 2012 when the landmark initiative was drafted and promoted to a suspicious public.

The conversation will be moderated by Wanda James, CEO of Denver marijuana company Simply Pure, who was a member of Gov. John Hickenlooper’s Amendment 64 implementation task force.

All throughout, these five activists will respond to unscripted and uncensored questions from members of the audience, some of whom will also receive a surprise, special recognition from the folks onstage.

Five or six leading politicians and canna-business leaders will also speak at the microphone for three minutes apiece, which mathematically illustrates that the night will not comprise a collective filibuster. Rather, this dinner event will constitute an interactive “group conversation.”

When it comes to Amendment 64, our five featured speakers quite literally wrote the law; other states that have since passed similar laws have followed the legislative blueprints created in Colorado in 2012 – as well as legislatively before and after that election.

Since passage of the Colorado and Washington laws, six more states have legalized marijuana for adult use, and more than half the country now has access to medical marijuana.

Marijuana policy reform is no longer a third-rail issue, and we owe that accomplishment in large part to the five people who will be sitting on stage with us this November 6.
