Drug Testing Lawsuit Expected to be Filed Today

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) — A teacher's union is expected to file a lawsuit to fight random drug testing for teachers and other school employees in the Kanawha County.

The Charleston Gazette is reporting that could happen this morning.

Last month, the Kanawha County School Board voted 4 to 1 to approve random drug screens for teachers, principals, coaches, school aides and other employees.

This has been a hotly debated issue for nearly two years.

Attorneys for the American Federation of Teachers are expected to file the lawsuit in Kanawha County Circuit Court.
