Title:
West Virginia bill picks up nine new legislative sponsors!
Message:
For the last two years, Del. Mike Manypenny has been the only legislator in Charleston who has been willing to sponsor medical marijuana legislation. That situation changed in a big way yesterday, as Del. Manypenny reintroduced his bill and now has nine other delegates — including two Republicans — signed on as co-sponsors!
The new bill is HB 2961, and with a bipartisan team of ten sponsors rather than just one, the bill should merit much more serious consideration by the entire West Virginia Legislature.
This remarkable development would not have been possible if not for the fact that legislators have received so many messages of support from their constituents. Thanks for writing your delegates, but let’s not stop now — please contact them again today and urge them to support the new medical marijuana bill!
Additionally, if you are a patient, medical professional, or member of the clergy, and you would consider testifying at a public hearing in the legislature, please contact me at msimon@mpp.org. There is no guarantee a hearing will be called, but it could happen with little advance notice, so it’s important for speakers to be prepared.
