You’re invited to two receptions honoring a marijuana policy reformer’s candidacy in Washington

It’s hard to find political candidates that have the guts to express the rarely spoken -- yet widely known -- notion that marijuana prohibition has failed. However, I wrote to you a few days ago telling you about one of these courageous politicians, Roger Goodman, and urging you to show him your support.

Roger, the Democratic candidate for the 45th District of the Washington State House of Representatives, supports taxing and regulating marijuana. He will be holding two receptions this week in order to raise awareness and some money for his campaign. You, and everyone you can bring along, are invited!

The first of these receptions will be in Seattle; I told you about it last week.

WHEN: Tuesday, September 26, 5:30-7:30 p.m.

WHERE: Newmark Tower, 5th floor. 1415 Second Avenue, Seattle, WA

The second reception will be the following day, in Kirkland. Parking will be free. Roger needs to raise funds to combat all the false advertising from his opponent, who is already attacking Roger for his visionary drug policy reform proposals!

WHEN: Wednesday, September 27, 5:30-7:30 p.m.

WHERE: Davidson Czeisler Kilpatric Law Firm, 520 Kirkland Way, 4th Floor, Downtown Kirkland

If you plan on attending either event, please RSVP to Rachel at (206) 227-2561 or rachelkurtz13@gmail.com

There is no minimum required donation, so please don’t feel like you have to miss out. Winning a campaign takes money, and Roger sincerely appreciates any donation you can make. Please make checks payable to Friends of Roger Goodman. If you cannot make the receptions, you may mail your contribution to 218 Main Street, Box 763, Kirkland, WA 98033.

And if you would like to donate online, you can do that at this page today. Please consider supporting a political candidate who sincerely believes in drug policy reform.

One of Roger’s greatest accomplishments was getting a drug sentencing reform and treatment initiative passed through the state legislature. This groundbreaking initiative is providing effective and humane alternatives to the unnecessary imprisonment of many of Washington’s citizens with serious drug problems -- and at the same time saving the state millions of dollars.

You can click here for more detailed information about Roger and his experience.

Please note that contributions for the office of Washington State Representative may not exceed $700 per person for the general election. Additionally, state law requires Roger Goodman report the name, mailing address, occupation, and name of employer for each individual whose contributions aggregate in excess of $100 in a calendar year.

I hope that you can make the event and show your support for Roger. His chances are looking good, and he needs to raise funds to guarantee his success. I urge you to support a candidate dedicated to instituting more effective drug policies in Washington.

Sincerely,

Rob Kampia
