Wash.: Ask your senator to support SB 6265

Message:

As you may recall, last year the Washington Legislature passed a bill that would have allowed for medical marijuana dispensaries, created a voluntary patient registry, and provided patients with arrest and prosecution protection if they chose to register. Unfortunately, Gov. Gregoire decided that the will of the federal government trumped the will of the Washington electorate and vetoed the most important provisions of that bill. This year, lawmakers are back for another bite at the apple. Call your senator TODAY and ask that he or she support SB 6265

SB 6265, sponsored by Sen. Kohl-Welles, would allow patients to collectively grow marijuana and nonprofit patient cooperatives to dispense marijuana to patients and caregivers. The bill would also create a voluntary patient registry. If a patient chooses to register with the state, they’ll be afforded arrest and prosecution protection – in addition to the necessity defense that all patients and caregivers have – if they are in compliance with Washington’s medical marijuana laws. This bill could be heard on the Senate floor today, so call your senator NOW and ask him or her to support SB 6265.

Thank you much for your time and advocacy.
