WA: Ask your representative to pass historic marijuana reform out of committee!

Message:

Washington legislators continue to waste at least $25 million annually enforcing prohibitionist marijuana laws that have neither decreased use nor availability during our decades-long “War on Drugs.” Our records indicate that your state representative sits on the House Committee on Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness; this committee is set to take testimony on HB 1550, a bill that would tax and regulate marijuana like alcohol. Please call your representative today and ask him or her to support this historic and sensible reform.

The committee meeting will take place tomorrow, February 8 at 10:00 a.m., so it is important that you call now so your representative understands the importance of this matter. If you get a voicemail, simply leave a message.

Washington has given marijuana prohibition plenty of time, but it hasn’t worked. The state has locked up countless numbers of otherwise law-abiding citizens and torn apart families, yet use rates remain stagnant. Why not try another approach? Support sensible marijuana reform!

Please don’t hesitate — contact your representative today! A simple two-minute phone call is all it will take to make you a champion of sensible marijuana reform.
