WA: Act now to help protect patients’ rights; demand safe access

Published: March 2, 2011

SB 5073, a bill which would, among other things, establish a regulatory system for the sale and purchase of medical marijuana for qualifying patients has passed through the Senate committee process and is awaiting a vote by the full Senate. Please e-mail your senator TODAY and ask him or her to help protect patients by voting “yes” on SB 5073!

A state recognized and regulated system for medical marijuana distribution benefits Washington by providing clarity to the medical marijuana program, thus reducing the chance of federal interference. Also, the bill provides protection from arrest and prosecution, in addition to the current medical defense available at trial, for patients acting in compliance with the law. If passed, this legislation will set up protections for renters and parents who are patients. Ask your senator to vote “yes” on SB 5073.

This bill could be voted on as early as today, so please e-mail your senator now and feel free to pass this along to your friends and family so that they too can make their voices heard.
