Title:
Vermont’s general election will set stage for reform in 2013
Message:
The November 6 general election is fast approaching, and early voting is already under way in Vermont.
As you probably know, Governor Peter Shumlin has been a strong and consistent supporter of sensible marijuana policy reforms. He supported adding dispensaries to Vermont’s medical marijuana law, and he strongly supports the effort to “decriminalize” marijuana so law enforcement can focus limited resources on serious crimes.
Polls suggest that Shumlin is likely to defeat his leading opponent, Randy Brock, who opposes decriminalization. But a governor can’t pass bills by himself — he needs strong allies in the legislature.
So before you vote, please check out our voter guide to find out which House and Senate candidates say they support Vermont’s medical marijuana law, increasing the cap of 1,000 patients who can register at a dispensary, and reducing penalties for marijuana possession (decriminalization).
Please share our voter guide with your friends, family, and acquaintances, and encourage them all to vote on or before Tuesday, November 6!
