Title:
Shumlin coasts to victory; 70% of Burlington voters call for ending marijuana prohibition!
Message:
Yesterday was an historic day for marijuana policy reform in the U.S., and Vermont is well positioned to advance marijuana policy reforms in 2013. With the re-election of Governor Peter Shumlin and positive outcomes across the board in state legislative races, we can be assured that decriminalization is a top item on next year’s legislative agenda.
Additionally, voters in Burlington overwhelmingly approved a ballot question indicating support for a more ambitious reform: ending marijuana prohibition. Seventy percent of Burlington voters said “Yes” to this question: “Shall the people of Burlington support the legalization, regulation, and taxation of all cannabis and hemp products?”
Congratulations to BTVGreen for getting this question on the ballot and getting it passed!
The tide has clearly turned against marijuana prohibition in Vermont and across the United States. Let’s keep making history!
