One month after “decrim,” Vermont sky has not fallen

Message:

Thank your supportive legislators!

Vermont’s decriminalization law went into effect one month ago today. This important reform has already begun to reduce the harms caused by marijuana prohibition, but we can’t stop here. We at MPP understand that marijuana prohibition has been a colossal failure, and we’d love to help Vermont become one of the first states to make marijuana legal for adults and regulate it similarly to alcohol.

There were many positive signs during the 2013 session, in addition to the passage of our decriminalization bill. Attorney General William Sorrell publicly argued in favor of decriminalizing marijuana plants, and many legislators (including Senate Majority Leader Philip Baruth and Minority Leader Joe Benning) indicated support for regulation as an alternative to prohibition.

Let’s keep the momentum going in Montpelier! Start today — click here to see how your legislators voted and to either thank them or send a message of disapproval. Legislators appreciate a good pat on the back just like anybody else. Please also share this message with your friends and family members so we can encourage more legislators to support ending marijuana prohibition in Vermont.
