Topic: Removal of penalties/Decriminalization

Title:

Help turn public support into law!

Message:

A recent poll commissioned by MPP shows that Vermonters support decriminalizing marijuana by a more than two-to-one margin (63% in favor, only 29% opposed). Additionally, 74% said marijuana is as safe or safer than alcohol!

Unfortunately, many legislators still fear being attacked if they vote in favor of reducing marijuana penalties. They will hear from some of our opponents, and that’s why they need to hear from you!

Please email your legislators today and ask them to support H. 427 or its companion bill in the Senate, S. 134.

In addition to emails, now is a perfect time for us to send legislators hundreds of postcards with messages in support of decriminalizing marijuana in Vermont. Will you be one of the volunteers who steps up to help us collect postcards? The messages are already pre-printed on the postcards, so all you have to do is have supporters write their addresses on the back and sign the card. You can start with friends and family, and then collect dozens more at large public meeting spots.

If you or someone you know is interested in this project, send me an email at msimon@mpp.org, and we’ll talk more about the details.
