Title:

Bad bill that would rewrite forfeiture law is at governor's desk; Take Action now!

Message:

S.B. 175, which was introduced by Sen. Chris Buttars (R-West Jordan), was passed by the legislature and is being sent to Governor Olene Walker (R). This bill would essentially repeal Initiative B, which was passed by an overwhelming 69 percent of Utah voters in 1998.

Initiative B was originally passed to prevent law enforcement from profiting from forfeiture. Instead, it diverted forfeiture funds to public education. Now the legislature has subverted the initiative process and the will of Utah voters by passing S.B. 175. Please contact Governor Walker today and urge her to veto this bill!

Please take a few moments to take action. After you choose your favorite pre-written letter and type in your address, our site will automatically e-mail your letter to the governor … all with the click of a few buttons. The whole process takes less than two minutes, but it makes a world of difference.

S.B. 175 has passed the House and Senate, and it is now heading for the governor's desk. This is our last chance to stop the state government from overturning Initiative B. Please urge the governor to veto this bill by visiting take action.
