Medical marijuana bills introduced'now let's make them law
Published: February 8, 2005
Medical marijuana is on the move in Tennessee. MPP's model bill is being introduced in both chambers. In the Senate, Stephen Cohen (D-Memphis) is sponsoring medical marijuana bill S.B. 1942, and Representatives Rob Briley (D-Nashville) and David Shepard (D-Dickson) are sponsoring H.B. 968 in the House. Now it's time for us to put pressure on lawmakers to turn these bills into law. Please visit:

Also, if you are—or know of—supportive doctors, nurses, or patients who would be willing to testify, please e-mail rgrim@mpp.org.
Sen. Cohen is known around Tennessee as a respected and tenacious lawmaker. When he sets his sight on a goal, he meets it, as he did recently with his campaign to create a state lottery in Tennessee. It took him 16 years, but he didn't give up. And he won't give up on Tennessee's medical marijuana patients.

State legislators truly do listen to their constituents. According to former U.S. Congressman Billy Evans (D-GA), "Legislators estimate that 10 letters from constituents represent the concerns of 10,000 citizens. Anybody who will take the time to write is voicing the fears and desires of thousands more."

Please forward this e-mail to friends in Tennessee who may take action as well. Thank you for supporting the Marijuana Policy Project.
