Title:
South Dakota medical marijuana signature drive kicks off!
Message:
Last week, the South Dakota Coalition for Compassion (SDCC) launched its petition drive to place the South Dakota Safe Access Act on the ballot in November 2010! This compassionate initiative, which was primarily drafted by MPP, plans to ensure that South Dakota patients battling cancer, AIDS, and other life-threatening diseases no longer face prison for trying to relieve their symptoms.
Heading up the effort is Pat Lynch, the former chairman for the North Central States Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, and Emmett Reistroffer. They have begun to collect signatures and will continue to circulate petitions for signatures at various community events, concerts, and fairs in South Dakota communities throughout the summer. Such a campaign depends on an extensive network of support and an army of volunteers.
In 2006, South Dakota became the only state where a statewide medical marijuana initiative has ever failed. However, the loss was by a razor-thin margin, and SDCC believes that 2010 is the year South Dakota voters will finally enact this compassionate legislation.
But they need your help. If you are a South Dakota resident, please join SDCC and volunteer to collect signatures.
SDCC; the Marijuana Policy Project; and many South Dakota advocates, legislators, and other policy makers are excited to move forward with this crucial effort. Would you please lend your support today?
Thank you for supporting the Marijuana Policy Project and all of our allies.
