Title:
Ask legislators to consider medical marijuana again
Message:
Despite the fact that three compelling legislative hearings on medical marijuana were held last year, both of the bills introduced in South Dakota were tabled without any action.
Unfortunately, the majority of state legislators don't believe that South Dakota citizens are interested in medical marijuana, despite its overwhelming support as noted in countless public opinion polls.
Medical marijuana, they say, simply is not an important issue for the overwhelming majority of voters.
Only you can change that perception. Please take a few minutes and visit MPP's South Dakota web site where you can directly e-mail your state representative and state senator.
Tell them that medical marijuana is an important issue, and they should take action to protect patients from arrest and prosecution under state law, if they use the drug with their doctors' approval.
Several pre-written letters are provided for your convenience, and if you prefer, you can print out the letters and send them to legislators through regular mail. Addresses to legislators are also provided.
The 2002 legislative session begins on January 8 and lasts less than two months, so it is important that you act soon. With your help, medical marijuana will be taken seriously in 2002.
