Topic: Removal of penalties/Decriminalization

Title:

R.I.: VERY IMPORTANT -- we need your help

Message:

Can you spare just one minute of your time to help replace the current criminal penalty for possession of up to an ounce of marijuana with a simple civil violation? Your voice is so very important at this time, so make sure it’s heard!

Rhode Island’s marijuana decriminalization bill is still pending in Rhode Island legislative committees, and time is running out. It’s essential that leadership give this bill a vote by week’s end. Please email leadership in both the House and Senate today and ask them to make sure marijuana decriminalization gets scheduled for a committee vote soon.

We have a small email list in Rhode Island and need you to also urge your friends and family in Rhode Island to contact leadership and to post this link to your social media sites.

Decriminalizing marijuana will save the state millions of dollars and allow law enforcement to focus on crimes of violence and against property. The proposal has been endorsed by the Providence Journal. Please, email the legislative leaders today, and ask others to act. We cannot stress enough how important your help is.
