Title:
R.I.: OpenDoors to host rally for sensible marijuana policy
Message:
On Tuesday, OpenDoors, a Providence-based non-profit that serves formerly incarcerated individuals and their families, will be hosting a rally calling on the legislature to enact Rhode Island’s twin bills to decriminalize marijuana possession. We hope you can join them!
Where: The Rhode Island State House rotunda in Providence
When: Tuesday, May 22 at 3:30 p.m.
What: Rally for H 7092 and S 2253
H 7092 and S 2253 would replace current criminal penalties for possession of up to an ounce of marijuana with a $150 civil fine. Email your elected officials in support of this proposal.
Confirmed speakers include Rep. Jay Edwards (D - Tiverton, Portsmouth), the House sponsor of the bill; Dr. David Lewis, MD, Professor Emeritus of Community Health at Brown University; and Beth Comery, Law Enforcement Against Prohibition.
Please dress appropriately and professionally and arrive early, as there will be many people going through State House security. You can RSVP to the event via Facebook.
A big thanks goes out to Becky Mer and her colleagues at OpenDoors for planning this rally and for all the work they’ve done in support of sensible marijuana policy reform in Rhode Island.
