Title:
R.I.: Compassion center bill clears Senate; email your representative in support!
Message:
Yesterday represented a major step toward finally seeing compassion centers open their doors in Rhode Island. The House Health, Education & Welfare Committee unanimously voted H7888 out of committee and on to the full House for consideration. This vote occurred moments after the full Senate passed companion legislation – S2555 – out of its chamber. Please email your representative today and ask her or him to support safe access for patients!
The twin bills would restrict compassion centers to possessing no more than 1,500 ounces of usable medical marijuana at any given time. They would also limit cultivation to 150 plants, no more than 99 of which can be mature. If signed into law, patients and caregivers would be able to sell excess usable marijuana directly to the compassion centers; the caregivers must first attest that the patients registered with them have had their needs met. Ask your representative to support this bill!
The House will vote on this bill Wednesday, May 16. First, make sure your representative knows to vote “yes” to H7888, then make sure your friends and family know about it too.
