Title:
R.I.: Compassion center bill clears House; email the governor in support
Message:
Just moments ago, the Rhode Island House of Representatives voted to pass H7888 out of the chamber in a 64-7 vote. The Senate passed companion legislation — S2555 — out of its chamber a week ago. After the bills clear cross over votes, a formality in Rhode Island, the proposal will go to Gov. Lincoln Chafee’s desk for his signature. Please email Gov. Chafee today and ask him to keep his word by signing this legislation.
The twin bills would restrict compassion centers to possessing no more than 1,500 ounces of usable medical marijuana at any given time. They would also limit cultivation to 150 plants, no more than 99 of which can be mature. If signed into law, patients and caregivers would be able to sell excess usable marijuana directly to the compassion centers, but the caregivers must first attest that the patients registered with them have had their needs met. Ask the governor to sign this legislation without delay!
Gov. Chafee has previously stated that he will sign this bill. First, make sure he knows to keep his word, and then tell your family and friends about this exciting news.
