Title:

Rep. Edith Ajello introduces legislation to end marijuana prohibition in Rhode Island

Message:

Email your representative and senator and ask them to support the Marijuana Regulation, Control, and Taxation Act

Earlier today, state Representative Edith Ajello (D – Providence) introduced legislation to replace Rhode Island’s marijuana prohibition with a system that regulates, controls, and taxes adult marijuana use and sales. Meanwhile, Senator Donna Nesselbush (D – Pawtucket) announced her plan to introduce a Senate companion bill. This sensible legislation has already gotten a flurry of press, but it’s vital your legislators hear from you.

Email your state representative and state senator today and ask them to support this sensible proposal!

H5274 and its companion bill in the Senate are philosophically similar to the measures voters in Colorado and Washington overwhelmingly approved of this past November. The bill would allow individuals 21 and older to possess and cultivate limited amounts of marijuana. It would also direct the department of revenue to license and regulate marijuana producers and retail marijuana stores. This sensible approach to marijuana would let law enforcement focus on more serious crimes.

Ask your state representative and state senator to support H5274. Then, ask your friends and family in the Ocean State to do the same.
