Medical marijuana bill to be heard tomorrow
Published: May 17, 2004
This Tuesday, May 18, the House Committee on Finance will hold a hearing on MPP's medical marijuana bill, H.B. 7588. This bill is identical to S.B. 2357, which is now in the Senate Committee on Judiciary.
You can help boost legislative support for the bills by asking your legislators to support medical marijuana and to urge their colleagues in the two committees to do the same. To do so, Take Action now.
When you contact your legislators, tell them that you—like 69 percent of Rhode Island voters—support S.B. 2357 and H.B. 7588. You may also wish to mention that H.B. 7588 has the endorsements of the Rhode Island Medical Society, AIDS Project Rhode Island, and the Rhode Island-based United Nurses and Allied Professionals.
H.B. 7588's sponsors are: Rep. Thomas Slater (D-Providence), Rep. Steven M. Costantino (D-Providence), Rep. Robert Watson (R-East Greenwich), Rep. Paul E. Moura (D-Providence), Rep. Arthur Handy (D-Cranston), Rep. Edith Ajello (D-Providence), Rep. Anastasia Williams (D-Providence), Rep. Joseph Almeida (D-Providence), Rep. Timothy Williamson (D-West Warwick), Rep. Robert Flaherty (D-Warwick), Rep. Charlene Lima (D-Providence), Rep. John McAuley (D-Providence), Rep. William San Bento (D-Pawtucket), Rep. Steven Smith (D-Providence), Rep. Richard Aubin (D-Burrillville, Gloucester), and Rep. John Shanley, Jr. (D-South Kingstown).
