Your last (and easy) chance to sign

Published: June 25, 2010

A week ago, the state Elections Division informed the Oregon Dispensary Initiative campaign that it was just 8,321 signatures short of qualifying for the November ballot. With only seven days left until the deadline, the campaign needs every possible signature it can get. We hope you will donate three minutes of your time and the cost of a stamp to ensure the initiative qualifies for the ballot.

In Oregon, it is possible to print out a single-signature petition sheet, sign it, and submit it through the mail. If you haven't signed the Initiative 28 petition already, please take the following steps TODAY so that your signature will be counted next week:

  1. Click on this link to open up the PDF of the petition sheet.
  2. Print the petition, then sign and date it and fill in your name and address neatly. (You should leave the "sheet number" section blank.)
  3. Mail the signed petition to:

Anthony Johnson
5704 N Missouri Ave
Portland OR 97217

That's it! So please do this as soon as you read this email. If you want to help the campaign, you need to get this petition in the mail TODAY!

Initiative 28 would create a system of dispensaries to supplement Oregon's medical marijuana law, which requires patients to produce their own medicine. The current law exempts patients from arrest but makes it a felony to sell medicine to them. I 28 will fix this problem. The initiative will also create a program to assist indigent patients, allow DHS to conduct research to establish quality control standards, and raise money for health programs.

Polling shows that 59% of likely Oregon voters support this measure. If this initiative makes the ballot, it should win. So please do your part to ensure that it qualifies. Please print and sign the petition sheet today!

Thank you.
