Title:

Ore.: Rosenblum wins Democratic primary, will be next attorney general!

Message:

Did you hear the good news? Last night, Ellen Rosenblum defeated Dwight Holton in the Democratic primary election for attorney general in the state of Oregon! Ms. Rosenblum defeated Mr. Holton by a margin of 63% - 37%, in what many characterized as not only a primary election for attorney general, but a referendum on marijuana policy as well. Since no Republican is running for attorney general, this primary victory means that Ms. Rosenblum will be Oregon’s next attorney general.

It’s pretty easy to see why the voters of Oregon chose Rosenblum when you take a minute to contrast the candidates' stances on marijuana policy. Mr. Holton is a former interim U.S. attorney. While U.S. attorney, he issued saber-rattling letters and organized a military style raid of a southern Oregon, state law compliant, medical marijuana garden. Rosenblum is a vocal supporter of the medical marijuana program and has vowed to make marijuana enforcement her office’s lowest priority. It is pretty clear that Rosenblum was the better choice.

Thanks so much to everyone who supported Ellen Rosenblum in this hotly contested election. Her election could very well have ramifications that go far beyond Oregon’s borders.
