OR: Time to vote "Yes" on Measure 74!

Published: November 1, 2010

It's finally here — Election Day!

It is your time to stand up for patients who need to safely and reliably access medical marijuana in Oregon. Are you going to help them or leave them to fend for themselves in an oftentimes dangerous criminal market?

Tomorrow (Tuesday, November 2), is the final day for voters from Baker City to Medford, from Lakeview to Portland, and everywhere in between, to drop off their ballots. We need you to complete your ballot, vote “Yes” on Measure 74, and drop it off at a designated drop box by 8 pm tomorrow!

If passed, Measure 74 will provide seriously ill patients a safe and regulated supply of medical marijuana. The measure strictly controls the suppliers while ensuring accountability via background checks, inspections, record-keeping, auditing and zoning, and other regulations. New Mexico, Rhode Island, Maine, Colorado, and many parts of California already have regulatory systems in place for the distribution of medical marijuana, so why should Oregon force its seriously ill to search for an individual caregiver or turn to the criminal market for a therapeutic substance recommended to them by their physicians?

In addition to voting “Yes” on Measure 74, please make sure your friends and family will be voting for Measure 74, too! Post something encouraging about Measure 74 on Facebook or Twitter. Forward this e-mail. Or just make some old fashioned phone calls. Whatever it takes to get people you know to vote “Yes.”

If you do not know where to drop off your ballot, visit the Oregon Secretary of State’s web page.

Thank you for all of your efforts in support of Measure 74. And thanks in advance for getting your ballot in on time.
