OR: Help pass Measure 74

Message:

In the upcoming election, Oregonians will have the opportunity to vote “yes” for safe and reliable access to medical marijuana for registered patients. Measure 74, a ballot initiative lead by VoterPower, will create non-profit medical marijuana dispensaries that will not only provide patients with safe and reliable access, but will help create jobs, accountability in the medical marijuana program, and tax revenue to help the state. Sounds great, right? You want to help pass this measure, don’t you? Well, here’s how you can.

This Sunday, October 3, 2010, in Medford, Oregon, VoterPower will be holding a Yes on Measure 74 rally and fundraiser. The event will take place from 11am until 5pm. The rally will feature music, food, raffles, and auctions. The suggested donation is $10.

What: Yes on Measure 74 rally and fundraiser

            When: Sunday, October 3, 2010

            Where: 332 W. 6th St. Medford, OR 97501

Cost: A suggested donation of $10

If you are not near the Medford area, but would still like to donate to the Yes on Measure 74 efforts, please visit Coalition For Patients Rights and click ”Donate.”

In addition, or in lieu of attending the rally, you can help pass Measure 74 from the comfort of your own home! Calling your fellow Beaver Staters and advocating for the passage of Measure 74 may be one of the most effective advocacy tools available for passing this measure, and thanks to FireDogLake, this has never been easier. FireDogLake has just launched an online phonebanking system! Through their website, users will be given the names and numbers of fellow Oregonians, as well as a call script. This will allow anyone with a telephone to engage in vital campaign outreach. Plus, for every “yes” a phone-banker gets, they earn points!

We’d also like to let everyone in Oregon know that Waiting to Inhale, a critically acclaimed documentary, will be making its Oregon debut at the Salem Film Fest later this month. Waiting to Inhale examines the debate over marijuana and its use as medicine in the United States. The schedule has not yet been released, so please keep an eye out for a future e-mail with more details.

Finally, the most important thing you can do to pass Measure 74 is VOTE! If you have not yet registered, please visit http://www.oregonvotes.org/.

Thank you in advance for all your time, energy, and assistance. With just four and a half weeks to go until Election Day, now is the time to act!
