During Medical Marijuana Awareness Week, which was Feb. 15 to 21, patients suffering from symptoms caused by terminal or chronic diseases throughout the nation challenged their U.S. Senators to support FDA-approved medical cannabis research.
Because the National Institute of Drug Abuse (NIDA) is dedicated to only studying the supposed harmful effects of marijuana, NIDA's monopoly on the supply of marijuana available for research results in arbitrary and lengthy delays on FDA-approved research. The impact of NIDA's monopoly is blocking beneficial research and prolonging an end to the controversy surrounding medical marijuana. |
