Title:
Ohio: Two new marijuana bills introduced
Message:
Yesterday, Rep. Robert Hagan introduced two key marijuana bills: one to allow the medical use of marijuana and one to let voters decide whether to replace Ohio’s prohibition of marijuana with a taxed and regulated system.
Please send a message of support for these bills to your legislators.
HB 153 would allow patients with debilitating medical conditions to have access to medical marijuana. The bill establishes a framework for a regulatory system that includes patients and caregivers similar to 18 other states that already have such programs.
As Rep. Hagan noted, medical marijuana is overwhelmingly supported by Americans across the political spectrum, and it is time for Ohio to stop punishing people who are sick and in pain.
He also introduced House Joint Resolution 6, which would allow voters to decide whether to tax and regulate marijuana similarly to alcohol. Under this resolution, adults 21 and older could legally purchase, cultivate, and consume marijuana.
As Rep. Hagan stated, "we have spent billions of dollars fighting marijuana with little progress and it is now time for a more sensible drug policy."
You can help support both these bills by sending a message to your legislators now. Please take a moment to do so, and forward this message to friends, family, and other supporters!
