Title:

Medical marijuana bill introduced in Ohio

Message:

Ask your elected officials to support HB 214

Gary Burton is now a convicted felon, and he is serving a 60-day sentence in jail. Why? He grew medical marijuana – just two plants – for his wife, Sherri, following her cancer diagnosis. The marijuana helped her cope with the side effects of the medications she was prescribed and the anxiety brought on by her breast cancer diagnosis. For that, Gary will be a convicted criminal for the rest of his life.

Fortunately, State Representative Kenny Yuko has reintroduced legislation in the Ohio Statehouse that could fix Ohio law by removing criminal penalties for the use of marijuana for medical purposes and giving patients a legal means to obtain doctor-recommended medicine.

Help us ensure that there are no more Gary and Sherri Burtons. Stop what you’re doing and take one minute to urge your state legislators to support HB 214.

There are more co-sponsors for this year’s bill than ever before — including, for the first time, a Republican — which shows that momentum is building. Help us continue building that momentum by asking your legislators to support HB 214. When you’re done, forward this to a friend so they can do the same.

Thank you!
