Title:
N.C.: Medical marijuana legislation filed in Raleigh; lobby day planned
Message:
Ask your legislators to support medical marijuana!
Rep. Kelly Alexander (D – Mecklenburg) has once again filed medical marijuana legislation! If passed, H.B. 84 (PDF) would protect North Carolinians who suffer from HIV/AIDS, cancer, multiple sclerosis, and other ailments from arrest and prosecution for using marijuana if their physicians recommend it. The legislation would also allow for the creation of medical marijuana centers where patients or their caregivers could purchase their medicine. Email your state legislators today and ask them to support this compassionate legislation.
In addition to emailing your lawmakers, consider joining other supporters for a medical marijuana lobby day at the capitol next Tuesday, February 12. This will be a wonderful opportunity to present a show of support as well as to meet with your state representative and state senator. Please see the North Carolina Cannabis Patients Network for more details, and then ask your representative and senator to pass medical marijuana legislation.
Marijuana has been proven to be an effective treatment for a host of conditions and debilitating symptoms. In addition, a medical marijuana law is favored by 58% of North Carolinians polled. Ask your lawmakers to join the majority and support medical marijuana!
