Medical Marijuana Closer to Legalization

ALBANY — Smoking marijuana for medical reasons is getting closer to becoming legal. The New York State Assembly passed a bill Wednesday that would protect seriously ill New Yorkers who use medical marijuana from being arrested.

A similar bill passed the assembly last year, but not the senate. The senate has until June 23 to pass the bill before the legislature goes into recess.
