Patients can’t wait: Urge your senator to commit to voting for S. 4041-B
Published: June 24, 2010
On day four of the Legislature Watch, the end of the session keeps approaching and patients are still waiting for their legislature to act. Since it appears the governor’s obstructionism has kept medical marijuana from its rightful place in the budget, we will likely have to pass our law as a standalone bill. That means that we need to shore up support with all of our legislators, especially our senators. The Senate has never passed a medical marijuana bill, and they must do so in the next week, so we must reach out to all of our senators and explain why passing medical marijuana is so important.
Please e-mail your legislators TODAY and ask them to publicly come out in support of the bill, and having a vote on it before session ends.
Please also continue to call Senator Sampson to thank him for his support and urge him to give medical marijuana a vote in the Senate as soon as possible. Please also call Gov. Paterson and ask him to reverse course and include medical marijuana in the budget.
Do not let this last, best opportunity to help seriously ill patients slip away. Please also urge other New Yorkers to act now before it is too late. Forward this message to at least 10 New Yorkers, post the link to your social networking sites, and otherwise spread the word. We must not let another year go by with patients criminalized for treating their illnesses.
Thank you for your support and compassion.
