New York's medical marijuana bill needs your help!

Published: February 2, 2004

The stage is set for moving New York's medical marijuana bill forward this year, but the Senate bill urgently needs a Republican sponsor. That's why your involvement is key: A. 5796 needs a Republican Senate sponsor in order to move in that chamber. Because your senator is a Republican, it is especially important that you let him or her know that you care passionately about this issue—that it's time to speak up and defend sick and dying patients' right to use their medicine without risking arrest—and urge him or her to introduce the bill.

Please visit Take Action. After you choose your favorite pre-written letter and type in your address, our site will automatically e-mail your letter to your senator … all with the click of a few buttons. The whole process takes less than two minutes, but it makes a world of difference. Also, you can print the letters and send them to your senator through regular mail.

New York's medical marijuana bill has justice, public opinion, and science on its side. But despite overwhelming public support, many legislators say that medical marijuana is simply not an important issue for a majority of voters. After you write your senator, please follow up with a phone call to help dispel this myth:

Senator William Larkin (39th Senate District) 518-455-2770
