New York: Ask Senate leader to put medical marijuana on Monday's agenda

Message:

We need your help.

The New York legislature will return for special session on Monday, November 29. This will give us one last opportunity to pass medical marijuana legislation before more hostile leadership is expected to take over next year.

Please call Sen. John Sampson, New York Democratic Conference Leader, NOW and politely ask him to ensure that S. 8427, medical marijuana legislation, is on the agenda.

Do not let this final opportunity to help seriously ill patients slip away. While the election results are not official yet, it appears Dean Skelos (R) will lead the Senate next year. Sen. Skelos hasn’t ever indicated an openness to medical marijuana. In addition, the governor-elect, Andrew Cuomo (D), recently came out against medical marijuana legislation.

Please also urge others to act now before it is too late. Forward this message to other New Yorkers, post the link to Facebook ( http://www.mpp.org/states/new-york/alerts/new-york-call-senate-leader.html ), and otherwise spread the word. We must not let another year go by with patients criminalized for treating their illnesses.

As always, thank you for your help and support.
