Title:
New York Assembly passes medical marijuana bill!
Message:
The New York Assembly passed a medical marijuana bill yesterday with a stunning 95-38 majority! The proposal will next be considered in the Senate, which has historically been less supportive of medical marijuana than the Assembly.
Please contact your senator today and urge him or her to support this compassionate reform!
Last week was a tumultuous week for medical marijuana advocates in the Empire State. Friday, one day after over 600 physicians came out in support of medical marijuana, New York City Mayor Mike Bloomberg generated a firestorm of controversy by calling medical marijuana “one of the greatest hoaxes of all time.”
Fortunately, New York voters know better than to agree with Mayor Bloomberg on this issue. A recent statewide poll conducted by the Siena College Research Institute found 82% support for allowing medical marijuana. The poll also found that support was consistent regardless of political party: 81% of Republicans and 81% of Democrats indicated support on the issue.
Sadly, politicians such as Senate Majority Leader Dean Skelos (a Republican) and Gov. Andrew Cuomo (a Democrat) still aren’t listening to the overwhelming majority of New Yorkers.
Please contact Gov. Cuomo and Sen. Skelos today. Then share this alert with your friends and family and urge them to do the same!
