The event will feature a performance by folk-rock band Nicole Atkins & The Sea, as well as special appearances by host of ABC's 20/20 John Stossel, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Michelle Phillips, and medical marijuana advocate Montel Williams. We'll also honor patient advocate Joel Peacock from Buffalo.
The event — which is just six weeks away — couldn't come at a better time. Last June, the Assembly passed MPP's medical marijuana bill by a 95-52 vote, marking the first time that such a bill has received a vote on the floor of either chamber of the state legislature. More than 1,000 doctors in New York have spoken out in support of medical marijuana, in addition to the Albany, Buffalo, and New York city councils and most medical organizations in the state.
Proceeds from the event will stay in New York and be used to pass the aforementioned bill to make New York the 13th medical marijuana state in the country.
