New Mexico Legislature votes on medical marijuana bill this week; urge your legislator to support patients of New Mexico

Published: January 30, 2006

The New Mexico Senate is expected to hold a floor vote on the Lynn Pierson Compassionate Use Act (S.B. 258) this week, and seriously ill residents in New Mexico need you to act now to help pass this legislation. Passing this law through the Senate would protect medical marijuana patients in New Mexico from arrest, but it needs your help to pass.

Act now and e-mail your state senator. After you choose your favorite pre-written letter and type in your address, our site will automatically e-mail your letter to your legislators all with the click of a few buttons. The whole process takes less than two minutes, but it makes a world of difference. Also, you can print the letters and send them to your legislators through regular mail.

Take action today.

The act allows qualified patients suffering from certain serious illnesses such as cancer, HIV/AIDS, and epilepsy to use marijuana with recommendations from their doctors. New Mexico’s medical marijuana patients need your help to ensure that this bill passes and medical marijuana becomes available to those in pain and suffering.

After you have e-mailed your senator, follow up with a call and tell him or her that you support the Lynn Pierson Compassionate Use Act and feel that seriously ill New Mexicans should have every opportunity to make their lives a little bit easier. Each call takes only one minute, but it can make a huge difference in moving this issue forward. You can find the number for your state senator here by plugging in your zip code.

Thank you for supporting the Marijuana Policy Project. Please be sure to pass this message along to others, so that together we can give seriously ill New Mexicans the protection they deserve.
