Please tell each representative: "I understand that the House Business and Industry Committee will vote on the Lynn Pierson Compassionate Use Act. Please vote 'yes' on H.B. 242. It is essential that medical marijuana patients be protected from arrest."
Please place your calls later today (Feb. 19) or early tomorrow morning (Feb. 20), as the hearing is tomorrow afternoon. If a legislator is not available to take your phone call, leave the above message with the representative's assistant or answering service. Further, if you live in a committee member's district, be sure to tell him or her that you are a constituent.
The Lynn Pierson Compassionate Use Act would allow patients with cancer, AIDS, multiple sclerosis, and other serious medical conditions to possess limited quantities of marijuana for medical use under the advice of their physicians. It would also provide registry ID cards to patients who have their doctors' recommendations and to those patients' caregivers. On February 6, the bill had its first victory as it was passed through the House Consumer and Public Affairs Committee. To continue, the bill must now pass through the House Business and Industry Committee.
Your phone calls could help alleviate the suffering of countless cancer, AIDS, and multiple sclerosis patients in New Mexico. Please call today and then pass this message on to other compassionate New Mexicans. The more concerned citizens who voice their support for the Lynn Pierson Compassionate Use Act, the more likely committee members are to pass it.
