Write a letter to the editor in support of N.J. medical marijuana bill
Our colleagues at the Drug Policy Alliance New Jersey asked that we pass the following message on to you. Thank you for supporting MPP and our allies in New Jersey.
As you know, a lot of great news coverage and editorials were generated after the Senate passed the New Jersey Compassionate Use Medical Marijuana Act with bipartisan support a few months ago. Last week's Courier Post editorialized in support of allowing medical marijuana in New Jersey. To keep this issue in the media and demonstrate to legislators that there is public support behind this legislation, please consider writing a letter to the editor (LTE) and submitting it to the Courier Post at cnletter@c-n.com. Let the editor know how happy you were when the Senate passed the medical marijuana legislation and the Attorney General supported its passage. Express your desire for the Assembly to act soon — before the summer break! Tips for writing and sending an LTE:
- Limit your letter to 150 - 200 words (concentrate on one or two points in the letter).
- Try and submit your letter to the editor as soon as possible. The sooner you submit a letter in response to a recent publication the better your chance of it being published.
- Include your full name, hometown, and daytime telephone number at the end of your letter for verification purposes.
- Send the text of your letter in the body of the e-mail (many newspapers won't accept letters as attachments).
- Make sure to directly reference the editorial to which you are responding.
