Title:

Tell N.J. Gov. Christie not to delay implementation

Message:

In January, New Jersey became the 14th state in the nation to enact a law allowing medical marijuana access, and seriously ill New Jerseyans celebrated this victory. However, these patients will not be able to live without fear of arrest and prosecution for using the medicine they need until the law goes into effect. That swift implementation is endangered by recent statements made by Gov. Chris Christie (R).

According to news reports, Gov. Christie’s administration has requested a six to 12 month delay in the July implementation of the New Jersey Compassionate Use Medical Marijuana Act.  Express your disapproval with this postponement and urge the Christie administration to implement this important law without delay!

The Drug Policy Alliance has prepared a sample message you can e-mail to both Governor Christie and Health and Senior Services Commissioner Poonam Alaigh.

Please contact Gov. Christie  & Commissioner Alaigh to urge speedy implementation.

You can also help us make the biggest impact possible by forwarding this e-mail to friends and colleagues and to your mailing lists. If you have a Facebook account, post a message urging action now. If your organization has a website, please consider posting this message on your site.

While we have taken an historic leap forward in passing a medical marijuana law in New Jersey, there is still much work to be done.  Together, we can build on this legislative victory and ensure that seriously ill patients have safe access to medical marijuana with their doctor’s recommendation, but only if you ACT NOW.

Thanks again to the Drug Policy Alliance and their local partners, the Coalition for Medical Marijuana-New Jersey, for all of their great work in New Jersey, and for developing this important action.
