Title:

N.J.: Take action to help protect medical marijuana patients

Message:

Although certain patients with debilitating conditions are authorized to use medical marijuana in New Jersey, they currently can still be denied medical care, including organ transplants. Legislation to remedy this and to provide explicit protections for medical marijuana patients, A765, recently passed the Assembly in a 67-9 vote. The Senate companion bill, S1220, now awaits a vote in the Senate.

Please contact New Jersey Senate leadership today and urge them to bring this compassionate legislation up for a vote.

A765/S1220 would supplement New Jersey’s medical marijuana law by requiring that a registered qualifying patient’s authorized use of medical marijuana be considered as equivalent to use of any other prescribed medication. This legislation would protect patients from discrimination and being denied access to life-saving medical care, including organ transplantation.

Please act now to protect New Jersey’s sick and suffering by contacting Senate leadership and urging them to move S1220 forward. Please also forward this alert to friends, family, and supporters in New Jersey so that they can take action, too.
