Medical marijuana event next Saturday, August 28
When New Jersey's legislative session opens this September, state lawmakers will have an opportunity to protect New Jersey residents who use medical marijuana on the recommendation of their doctors. On August 28, Assemblyman Reed Gusciora (D-Trenton) will announce his intention to introduce the New Jersey Compassionate Medical Marijuana Act at an event hosted by the Coalition for Medical Marijuana—New Jersey (CMMJNJ). The event, open to the public, will be held in Robinsville from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
To get involved with CMMJNJ, or to attend the event, either call Ken Wolski at 609-394-2137 or e-mail him.
The event is a tribute to Sean McGrath, a New Jersey musician who died in June at age 28, following a two-year struggle with cancer. During the event, caregivers who have worked with patients like Sean will offer testimonials on the benefits of medical marijuana. The forum will also include speakers from the medical community. A short video, The Case for Cheryl Miller, will be screened as well. Next Saturday's benefit seeks to set the tone for a successful legislative session.

Earlier this year, MPP's intensive lobbying campaign led Vermont—the most recent medical marijuana state—to pass a medical marijuana law, which went into effect on July 1. Polls consistently show massive public support for this issue. New Jersey legislators must learn that their constituents care about the fate of seriously ill New Jersey residents. This cannot happen without your help. Please Take Action now.
