Title:

Act now! N.J. committee vote on medical marijuana on Thursday

Message:

On Thursday, June 4, at 10:00 a.m., the Assembly Health and Senior Services Committee will hear testimony on A804, also known as the New Jersey Compassionate Use Medical Marijuana Act. This compassionate legislation would protect many sick and dying New Jersey residents who use medical marijuana on the advice of their doctors.

Please call the members of the committee now in support of the bill. Each call will only take a minute.

If you're able to make it to Trenton on Thursday morning, please try to attend the hearing.

WHAT: Assembly Health and Senior Services Committee hearing on medical marijuana bill
WHERE: Committee Room 16 on the fourth floor of the Statehouse Annex in Trenton, N.J.
WHEN: Thursday, June 4, at 10:00 a.m.

Click here for directions to the Statehouse. Please click here for information regarding parking near the Statehouse. Once at the Statehouse, a security guard or trooper will greet you.  Please make sure you have a valid picture ID to enter the building so you can be issued a visitor's pass.

If are unable to make it to Trenton, you can listen to the meeting live online the day of the hearing around 10:00 a.m., or a few days later once the hearing recording is archived on the NJ legislature's homepage.

New Jersey is getting very close to becoming the 14th state to allow medical marijuana. On February 23, the New Jersey Senate voted 22-16 to pass S119, the Senate version of the New Jersey Compassionate Use Medical Marijuana Act. Gov. Jon Corzine (D) has said that he will sign the bill if the Assembly also passes it.

The Drug Policy Alliance New Jersey is working hard behind the scenes with allies in the legislature to ensure that they have the necessary votes for committee passage, but they need your help!  Together, we can ensure that seriously ill New Jerseyans have safe access to medical marijuana, but only if you call members of the Assembly health committee now.

Thank you for supporting the Marijuana Policy Project and our allies in New Jersey. Please pass this message along to your friends and family in New Jersey so that others can stand up for the state's most vulnerable residents.
