To the editor:
I was very happy to see that nearly all of Portsmouth's state representatives supported sensible marijuana policy reforms in 2007 and 2008.
Reps. Christopher Serlin, Jacqueline Cali-Pitts, Paul McEachern, James Powers and Jim Splaine all supported HB 774, the medical marijuana bill which nearly passed the House in 2007, and all five also supported HB 1623, the sensible reduction in marijuana possession penalties which did pass the House in 2008.
However, Rep. Laura Pantelakos voted against both of these common sense reforms, and since she is a member of the Criminal Justice Committee, her opposition is even more troubling. Perhaps this is something voters should remember on Sept. 9?
