Write your legislators. Veto override vote is next week!

The fate of hundreds of New Hampshire's seriously and terminally ill patients rests in the hands of the state legislature. On October 28, the legislature will vote on whether to override Gov. John Lynch's veto of the state's medical marijuana bill. This legislation, HB 648, sponsored by Rep. Evalyn Merrick (D-Coos 2), would allow certain seriously ill patients to relieve their debilitating symptoms with marijuana, according to their doctors' advice. Gov. Lynch vetoed the bill after refusing to meet with 15 patients and after failing to give input to the legislative committee of conference, which amended the bill to address each of the eight concerns he had voiced in April.

If there was ever a time to act, that time is now. Through citizen advocacy, we can help press for an override of Gov. Lynch's veto. If we are successful in our efforts, we open access to much-needed medicine for the seriously and terminally ill citizens of the Granite State.

Please take three minutes of your time to write your legislators and ask them to override the governor's veto.

MPP is also looking for volunteers in the Manchester area to help distribute door-hangers. A route and literature would be provided to you and volunteers can work whenever you are free. If interested, please contact MPP grant recipient Matt Simon at Matt@NHCompassion.org. Finally, if you are a doctor, nurse, religious figure, or patient and would like more information on how to help MPP in it's efforts, please e-mail state@mpp.org to see how you can help.

Thank you so very much for your time, effort, and compassion; many appreciate it.
