Title:
This Saturday: Meeting to talk about next steps for medical marijuana bill!
Message:
Last week’s 13-11 vote in the New Hampshire Senate was considered a major upset, but we’re not resting on our laurels. Patients, advocates, and others wishing to learn more about SB 409 are invited to attend an informational meeting at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 7 at Murphy’s Taproom in Manchester (494 Elm Street, meeting held in room at back of restaurant).
It seems likely Gov. Lynch will follow through on his threat and veto the bill when it lands on his desk. All supporters should call his office now at (603) 271-2121, and urge him to reconsider his position on SB 409. However, it should also be well understood that our most likely path to victory does not involve Gov. Lynch.
Several senators who voted “no” last week are not certain in their opposition, and we believe we will be able to gain support from others who did not have the luxury of being present for the bill’s public hearing. Three additional senators will be needed to reach 16 votes and override a potential veto.
The bill will next be referred to the House Health and Human Services Committee for a hearing in April or May.
We hope to see you this Saturday at 1:00 p.m.!
