Title:

N.H. Senate and governor hear from patients; act now!

Message:

Call Gov. Hassan today!

Yesterday, a key Senate committee considered testimony on HB 573, the medical marijuana bill that passed the House March 20 by an overwhelming 286-64 margin. Patients and advocates urged senators to pass the bill as approved by the House, including both the option for patients to cultivate up to three mature plants and also the creation of five non-profit alternative treatment centers.

Gov. Maggie Hassan has expressed “concerns” about allowing patients to grow plants at home. Fortunately, unlike her predecessor Gov. Lynch, she was willing to sit down with patients in her office yesterday and hear from them directly about the need to include home cultivation in the bill.

Please call Gov. Hassan and write your senator today!

As reported today by the Associated Press, when Gov. Hassan was in the Senate she voted in favor of a home cultivation provision (which was up to six plants) that passed the House and Senate in 2009. That’s one reason we are confident she will ultimately agree to support this very limited provision in HB 573, but she needs to hear from patients and advocates that this is the right thing to do!
