N.H. medical marijuana patients need your help!

Earlier this week, the House Health Committee heard compelling testimony from many patients who can benefit from medical marijuana. The full committee will now vote on the bill on Wednesday, March 18.

It is imperative that committee members hear from as many of their constituents as possible before they vote on March 18. If you live in the district of a committee member, please take a moment to call him or her now. You can find out who your legislators are here.

Here are three other ways you can help protect New Hampshire's seriously ill patients:

  1. Ask you friends, family, and neighbors to fill out post cards in support of HB 648. These cards are an easy way to show your legislators how much support there is for this bill in your community. If you are willing to help collect post cards please e-mail me at Zane@mpp.org.

  2. Show your support for HB 648 by putting up a yard sign. NHCompassion.org has designed these great signs. Please e-mail me at Zane@mpp.org if you'd like to put one up in your yard or business.

  3. Write a letter to the editor. The opinion pages are one of the most read sections of the newspaper and a great way to show legislators the widespread support that exists for medical marijuana. We have several talking points available, or you can e-mail me at Zane@mpp.org for help with a letter.

Additionally, on Monday, March 16 at noon, there will be a debate on medical marijuana at Lakes Region Community College in Laconia, N.H. The forum will take place in room 216 of the Center for Arts and Technology academic building on Prescott Hill. Rep. James Pilliod (R-Belmont), multiple sclerosis patient Sandra Drew, and Matt Simon, executive director of NH Coalition for Common Sense Marijuana Policy, will argue in favor of allowing medical marijuana. Enfield Police Chief Richard Crate and conservative commentator Skip Murphy will argue against allowing medical marijuana. If you're in the Laconia area, please try to attend the debate on Monday afternoon.

Thank you for supporting MPP and our allies. With your help, we'll be able to make New Hampshire the 14th state to protect medical marijuana patients from arrest.
