N.H.: Medical marijuana gains Senate support, moves to governor’s desk

Message:

As reported in this morning’s Concord Monitor, the House and Senate have finally passed identical versions of SB 409, and the bill will now go to Gov. Lynch’s desk.

Gov. Lynch has said he will veto the bill. If you’d like to express your displeasure and encourage him to change his mind, his office number is (603) 271-2121.

The best news from yesterday is that two senators voted “yes” who had previously voted against: Senate President Peter Bragdon (R-Milford) and Sen. Fenton Groen (R-Rochester). Unfortunately, one of the previous “yes” votes, Sen. Andy Sanborn, has resigned his seat to run in another district, so it appears two additional votes will be needed to override the expected veto.

Click here to thank your senator for voting “yes” or to ask “why not?” if he or she voted “no.”

Our legislative allies have promised to continue pushing to get SB 409 passed. Now that the nice weather has returned, volunteers can make a big impact by gathering signatures on postcards in key districts.

Teams of volunteers are being formed in the following target areas: Exeter/Kingston, Meredith/Plymouth, and Nashua. If you’d like to help this weekend, or anytime in the next two or three weeks, please email me at msimon@mpp.org.
