Title:
N.H.: Gov. Hassan says NO to home grow
Message:
Call her office today!
Sadly, Gov. Maggie Hassan informed our bill sponsors Monday evening that she would not be willing to support the home cultivation option included in HB 573. Unless she reconsiders this position, it appears the Senate will have little choice but to strip home cultivation from the bill — meaning that patients will not have a legal way to access medical marijuana for two or more years while regulations are developed and alternative treatment centers are being registered.
This is a tragic development for patients who need medical marijuana immediately and can’t afford to wait for safe, legal access.
As reported by The Associated Press, Gov. Hassan previously voted for a bill allowing home cultivation in 2009, but changed her position at the request of the New Hampshire Chiefs of Police Association.
Please call Gov. Hassan’s office today and encourage her to reconsider her position!
Additionally, HB 573 co-sponsor, Rep. Donald “Ted” Wright, has started a Change.org petition urging Gov. Hassan to side with patients, not police chiefs. Please sign the petition, and don’t forget to share this important message with your friends and family!
